Platform Pillars for a New Georgia
Empowering Work, Wages, and Wealth for Georgians
As your Governor, I will lead with a revolutionary philosophy centered on empowering Georgia’s working and middle-class families to reach their full potential. For too long, the scales of opportunity have tilted against everyday Georgians. That ends now.
We will raise the minimum wage to $20 per hour and exempt state income taxes for nurses, public school teachers, military veterans, and seniors over 65—returning dignity, stability, and financial peace to the people who’ve invested the most in our state. This is more than policy. It’s a promise to honor work, elevate wages, and build generational wealth for every Georgian.
Restoring the Right to Thrive, Not Just Survive
No Georgian should have to choose between paying rent and putting food on the table. My administration will champion policies that make everyday life more affordable—from housing and groceries to gas and childcare.
By fostering equitable growth across urban, rural, and suburban communities, we’ll build a Georgia where families have the financial breathing room to save, rest, and dream again.
A Healthy Georgia Is a Thriving Georgia
Access to quality, affordable healthcare must be a right—not a privilege. As Governor, I will expand Medicaid, protect our rural hospitals from closure, and ensure no Georgian is left behind.
We’ll increase the number of nurses, OB/GYNs, and pediatricians statewide, especially in underserved communities. Together, we will build a healthcare system that serves everyone—seniors, children, families, and those living with disabilities—with compassion, efficiency, and dignity.
Fueling Georgia’s Economic Heartbeat
Small business owners, nonprofits, and Black farmers are more than economic contributors—they’re the soul of our communities. Under my leadership, these essential stakeholders will no longer be overlooked.
We’ll cut red tape, increase access to capital, and ensure these changemakers have a permanent seat at the policy table. When we empower our local innovators and caretakers, we build a stronger, more resilient Georgia from the ground up.
Preparing the Next Generation for the Jobs of Tomorrow
A world-class education system is the gateway to economic freedom. We will invest deeply in public education—from Pre-K through technical colleges—and expand access to trades and apprenticeships.
We’ll overhaul outdated systems like Job Corps and replace them with 21st-century workforce pipelines that lead to real skills, real credentials, and real careers. Because when we prepare our people, we power our future.
Clean Air. Safe Water. Shared Responsibility.
Every Georgian deserves to breathe clean air, drink safe water, and enjoy our state’s natural beauty without fear of pollution. Environmental justice is not optional—it’s essential.
My administration will hold polluters accountable, protect vulnerable communities, and invest in renewable energy and sustainable practices. We will ensure environmental equity—no matter your income, race, or zip code.
Defending the Rights of Every Georgian
We are a state rooted in justice—and I will never let that foundation erode. As Governor, I will safeguard voting rights, defend reproductive and immigrant rights, and uphold the full protection of our Constitution, from the First to the Fourteenth Amendment.
We will reject hate, fear, and misinformation—and build a Georgia where every voice matters, every person counts, and every community is protected under law.
Building a Safer, Fairer Georgia for All
It’s time to end the era of harmful laws that have worsened health disparities, fueled gun violence, and endangered Black mothers and children. I will fight to repeal these failed policies and replace them with evidence-based, life-saving legislation.
We will prioritize justice, safety, and public health—not politics. Together, we’ll rewrite the laws to reflect the values and future Georgians truly deserve.

Derrick's Policies
Together, we can create a Georgia where healthcare is universal, housing is affordable, education is world-class for every child, and a high quality of life is guaranteed for every citizen in all 159 counties.
Building a state where every family can thrive starts with making daily life more affordable. It isn’t just about numbers on a ledger; it’s about ensuring that hard work translates into stability and that no one is forced to choose between a roof over their head or the healthcare they need. While my opponents in this race speak hypothetically and offer vague ideas on their websites, I am the only candidate presenting concrete policies backed by introduced legislation. My record in the General Assembly proves that I don’t just talk about affordability, I take the action necessary to deliver it.
To turn these legislative visions into a statewide reality, we must first win the Primary Election on May 19th. As your Governor, I will move these bills from the House floor to the Governor’s desk, ensuring every Georgian feels the impact of true economic relief.
To tackle the rising cost of living, our administration will build on the foundations I have already fought for:
-
Housing Stability and the Georgia Dream: Everyone deserves a place to call home and a path to building generational wealth. I introduced House Bill 1597, which modernizes the Georgia Dream Homeownership Program. By increasing down payment assistance to $30,000 and closing cost support to $15,000—structured as forgivable, zero-interest loans—we are making the "Georgia Dream" a reality again for first-generation homebuyers and public service professionals.
-
Empowering Small Businesses, Farmers, and Nonprofits: Our local economies depend on the "little guy," but they shouldn't have to take on more debt to grow. I introduced House Bill 1449, the Georgia Gold Standard Opportunity Grant Act, to provide up to $50,000 in annual grants—not loans—for small businesses, small farmers, and nonprofit organizations. This ensures our local pillars have the direct capital they need to hire, innovate, and keep wealth within our communities.
-
Targeted Tax Relief: It is time to reward those who serve our communities. Through the Georgia Essential Service & Senior Tax Relief Act, I’ve advocated for eliminating state income tax for our veterans, educators, nurses, and seniors. We will continue to push for a tax structure that provides breathing room for those on fixed incomes and in essential professions.
-
Strengthening Wages and Worker Dignity: Affordability is also about what you earn. I introduced House Bill 600 to finally address Georgia's outdated $5.15 minimum wage. This legislation outlines a clear, phased approach to lift the floor to $15, then $20, and eventually to a true livable wage of $27.
-
The Georgia Worker Empowerment Act: To ensure working families and the middle class can truly thrive, I introduced House Bill 1493—the strongest pro-labor bill in Georgia’s history. By repealing the "At-Will" and "Right-to-Work" clauses that have long been used to intimidate employees, this bill strengthens unions across our state. When labor is strong, Georgia’s families are stronger.
-
A thriving Georgia depends on a healthy Georgia. For too long, our state has allowed a healthcare crisis to deepen, watching as rural hospitals shutter their doors and families are left without basic care. While my opponents in this race speak in hypotheticals and offer vague ideas on their websites, I am the only candidate presenting concrete policies backed by introduced legislation. My record in the General Assembly proves that I don’t just talk about healthcare—I take the action necessary to change the trajectory of our failing system.
To transform these legislative solutions into a statewide reality, we must first win the Primary Election on May 19th. As your Governor, I will move these policies from the House floor to the Governor’s desk, ensuring that healthcare is a right for every Georgian, not a privilege for a few.
To end the healthcare crisis and build a system that works for everyone, our administration will take a comprehensive, expert-driven approach:
-
Medicaid Expansion and the Path to Universal Healthcare: We will begin by immediately expanding Medicaid to provide coverage to hundreds of thousands of uninsured Georgians. This is the first critical step toward a Universal Healthcare model that ensures no Georgian is ever one medical bill away from bankruptcy.
-
Saving Rural and Community Hospitals: The trend of hospital closures, especially in rural Georgia, must end. We will implement emergency stabilization grants and modernize reimbursement rates to ensure that your zip code never determines your access to life-saving care.
-
Leveraging Georgia’s World-Class Expertise: Every day, my administration will leverage the unparalleled expertise of the CDC, Morehouse School of Medicine, Emory, and industry leaders. We will not guess at solutions; we will use data-driven strategies to reverse the crises in maternal health and infant mortality that have plagued our state for too long.
-
Solving the Specialist Shortage in All 159 Counties: It is unacceptable that many of our counties lack basic specialists. We will launch a massive recruitment and retention initiative—utilizing targeted student loan forgiveness and residency incentives—to place OB-GYNs, pediatricians, neurologists, cardiologists, urologists, and nurses in every corner of Georgia.
-
A New Era for Women’s Health: Georgia currently holds a failing "F-minus" report card in maternal and women's health, according to U.S. News & World Report. This is an emergency. We will treat it as such by investing heavily in expanding the workforce of midwives, doulas, and specialized practitioners who are essential to improving outcomes. By expanding access to reproductive care and prenatal services, we will move Georgia from the bottom of the list to a national leader in health.
-
A thriving Georgia is built on the foundation of justice, equality, and the unyielding protection of our fundamental rights. From the ballot box to the air we breathe, the safety of our streets to the privacy of our data, our rights are under constant pressure. While my opponents in this race speak in hypotheticals and offer vague ideas on their websites, I am the only candidate presenting concrete policies backed by introduced legislation. My record in the General Assembly proves that I don’t just talk about protecting Georgians—I take the action necessary to defend our freedoms.
To turn these legislative visions into a statewide reality, we must first win the Primary Election on May 19th. As your Governor, I will move these bills from the House floor to the Governor’s desk, ensuring every Georgian lives in a state that respects their dignity and their future.
To protect our communities and our constitutional values, our administration will champion these critical reforms:
-
Common-Sense Gun Safety: Protecting the Second Amendment goes hand-in-hand with protecting our children and families. I introduced House Bill 601, the Gun Safe Act, to ensure responsible ownership and safety. Furthermore, I introduced House Bill 508 to place a Moratorium on military-style guns, ensuring that weapons of war have no place on our civilian streets. We will prioritize the safety of our neighborhoods without compromising constitutional integrity.
-
Protecting the Ballot and Ending Gerrymandering: Voting is the most sacred civil right we possess. To ensure every voice is heard and every vote counts equally, I introduced House Resolution 1105. This "No More Gerrymandering" initiative seeks to end the partisan drawing of districts that silences voters. As Governor, I will fight for an independent process that puts the power back in the hands of the people, not the politicians.
-
Upholding Civil Rights and Human Dignity: Georgia must be a state that welcomes all and intimidates none. I introduced House Bill 1060, my Anti-ICE legislation, to ensure that state and local resources are used to protect our residents rather than tear families apart. We will build a Georgia that upholds the civil rights of every individual, regardless of their background or heritage.
-
Environmental Rights and Sustainable Growth: Our right to a clean and sustainable environment is increasingly threatened by unchecked industrial expansion. I introduced House Bill 1059 to place a Moratorium on Data Centers, ensuring we pause and evaluate the massive energy and water demands these facilities place on our local ecosystems. We will prioritize the long-term health of Georgia’s natural resources over short-term corporate interests.
-
Building a state where every child can thrive starts with a world-class public education system. It isn’t just about graduation rates; it’s about ensuring that every student, regardless of their zip code, has the resources, technology, and support to compete in a 21st-century global economy. While my opponents in this race speak in hypotheticals and offer vague ideas on their websites, I am the only candidate presenting concrete policies backed by introduced legislation. My record in the General Assembly proves that I don’t just talk about our schools—I take the action necessary to modernize them.
To turn these legislative visions into a statewide reality, we must first win the Primary Election on May 19th. As your Governor, I will move these bills from the House floor to the Governor’s desk, ensuring that every Georgia student and educator feels the impact of true investment.
To ensure our education system meets the demands of the future, our administration will focus on these critical reforms:
-
Modernizing the QBE Funding Formula: Our schools are currently operating on the Quality Basic Education (QBE) formula—a funding model designed in 1985. Our children deserve a 2026 education, not a 1985 budget. I have championed the modernization of this formula to reflect the actual costs of technology, security, and transportation in today's world.
-
Equity Through a Poverty Weight: A child’s potential should never be limited by their economic circumstances. I have introduced legislation to finally add a Poverty Weight to the state funding formula. This ensures that school systems serving high-poverty areas receive the additional resources necessary—such as wrap-around services, smaller class sizes, and specialized literacy support—to meet every student's needs.
-
The Educators 3R Plan (Recruit, Retain, and Reward): We cannot have world-class schools without world-class educators. My administration will implement my Educators 3R Plan to aggressively increase starting salaries and provide the professional respect our teachers deserve. By investing in those who lead our classrooms, we ensure stability and excellence for our students.
-
Investing in the Whole Child: Education is more than just test scores. We will expand access to early childhood education and mental health resources within our schools. By addressing the barriers to learning before they become crises, we create an environment where every child in all 159 counties can excel.
-
A thriving Georgia depends on the strength and stability of those who defend our nation—and the families who stand beside them. As a retired Navy Lieutenant Commander with 22 years of honorable service, I am the only candidate in this race fully and uniquely qualified to serve as Georgia’s Commander-in-Chief. Full stop! While my opponents speak in hypotheticals and offer vague ideas on their websites, I am the only candidate presenting concrete policies backed by a career of service and introduced legislation. I don’t just talk about supporting our military—I have lived the challenges of service and taken the action necessary to advocate for those who wear the uniform and the families who share in that sacrifice.
To turn these legislative visions into a statewide reality, we must first win the Primary Election on May 19th. As your Governor, I will move these policies from the House floor to the Governor’s desk, ensuring every service member, veteran, and military family feels the impact of a state that truly honors its promises.
To ensure Georgia remains the best state in the nation for our military community, our administration will focus on these critical pillars:
-
Honoring the Total Force—Service Members and Families: We recognize that when a service member signs up, the entire family serves. We appreciate the dedicated service and profound sacrifice of our military spouses and children. Our administration will ensure they are never left out of the conversation, implementing policies that prioritize military spouse employment, streamlined professional licensing, and expanded access to quality childcare.
-
Targeted Military and Veteran Tax Relief: It is time to reward those who have sacrificed for our freedom. Through the Georgia Essential Service & Senior Tax Relief Act, I have advocated for eliminating state income tax for our veterans. By allowing families to keep more of what they’ve earned through decades of service, we make Georgia the premier destination to retire and raise a family.
-
World-Class Quality of Life Near Every Installation: In and near every military installation in Georgia—from Fort Moore to Moody and beyond—we must provide our service members and their dependents the absolute best quality of life services available. This means ensuring attainable, high-quality housing and maintaining 21st-century public education for military children, ensuring they have stability and excellence regardless of where they are stationed.
-
A Comprehensive Healthcare Safety Net: We have a sacred promise to take care of the brave men and women in uniform and their dependents. By expanding Medicaid and moving toward a Universal Healthcare model, we will fill the gaps that Tricare and the VA cannot always cover, ensuring mental health support and specialized care are accessible in every community.
Pro-Military Retention and Career Transitions: We will make Georgia the national gold standard for veteran and family transitions. By leveraging my corporate leadership experience and military background, we will partner with Georgia’s top industries to create direct pipelines for veterans and military spouses into high-paying, high-impact careers.
